If fire breaks out everyone in the building needs to know. Early detection allows for quick evacuation or to alert a keyholder out of hours.
Fire Alarm Systems play a key role in Fire Safety in a building. They alert staff to the outbreak of fire allowing for quick evacuation. Detectors can sense fires in their early stages allowing trained persons to tackle the fire when appropriate and summon the Fire Service.
Fire Alarms are designed and installed to the extent required by your Fire Risk Assessment. Systems range from comprehensive detection to just manual call points for smaller, low risk premises. Whatever system you have installed, it must be maintained and tested on a regular basis. Our Engineers are manufacturer trained and hold the industry recognised and required qualifications.
Maintenance and testing is usually carried out on a 6 and 12 month basis but can be carried out more often should the risk justify this. Maintenance of your system is a legal requirement. Specialist equipment is used to trigger each detector and put the control panel through its paces ensuring all is working to specification. A comprehensive report and test certificate is issued on completion for your records and to prove you are complying with statutory requirements.
We can design, install and commission most types of Fire Alarm technology including those which are considered "closed protocol" or specialist such as Gent and Protec. Contact us for a free, no obligation survey and quotation.
All work is carried out in line with the latest British Standard BS5839 Part 1: 2017.
Do you require a new or replacement system?
Fire alarm systems are designed on the requirements of a Fire Risk Assessment. The assessment should identify the category of system required in order to mitigate the risk of fire in the premises posing a risk to life or property. If you don't have a Fire Risk Assessment, we can help!
A means of raising the alarm is a mandatory legal requirement of fire safety legislation. In small premises you may only need the most basic provision. For more complex buildings you will need an electrically operated system with a battery back up facility. These are known as "Part 1" systems and are the most common types for commercial premises. These systems consist of automatic fire detectors and manual call points allowing for the automatic means of raising the alarm and a manual means.
